Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest

5-0 against Forest is also a victory with at least five goals 19th at Arsenal's home ground in the English Premier League. The previous 18 had all come under Arsene Wenger. This result is even more meaningful, marking the 300th round of Arsenal's victories at the Emirates Stadium - their new "home" since 2006.

After two consecutive matches without winning - drawing with Southampton in the 13th round of the Premier League, then losing to PSV 0-2 in the Europa League, the destruction of Forest helped Arsenal return to a familiar trajectory. They reclaimed the top of the Premier League table after a day of being occupied by Man City, and ran perfect momentum for the match against Zurich in the last leg of Group A Europa League.

The army under Mikel Arteta is currently at the top and two points above PSV on November 3. They had to beat Zurich to secure a place in the 1/8 round, instead of having to play two play-offs with strong teams falling from the Champions League, including Juventus, Barca, Atletico, Sevilla or Ajax.

Arteta kept the same starting line-up compared to the last three matches in the Premier League - drawing Southampton 1-1, winning Leeds 1-0 and Liverpool 3-2. Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu continued to kick two, Kieran Tierney was substituted and Oleksandr Zinchenko had not recovered from injury.

Forest is at the bottom of the table and has the second worst defense in the Premier League when conceding 23 goals, just behind Bournemouth with 28 goals. Therefore, Arsenal - with the strongest squad and home advantage - dominated when controlling the ball 72%, finishing 10 times with two shots on target in the first 45 minutes. This statistics of the away team is only four, with one on target.

Arsenal opened the scoring on the first dangerous attack. In the 5th minute, Bukayo Saka hung the ball low into the penalty area for Gabriel Martinelli to cut his head into the near corner, breaking the five-game streak. With 21 years and 55 days, Bukayo Saka is the third youngest player to reach 20 assists in the Premier League, after Cesc Fabregas (19 years 352 days) and Wayne Rooney (20 years and 300 days).

Arsenal maintained the pressure after the opening goal. In the 8th minute, Gabriel Jesus turned the ball to eliminate Renan Lodi and put the left foot off the post. Eight minutes later, the Brazilian striker missed his opportunity again when he hit Steve Cook's foot from close range and could not make it difficult for goalkeeper Dean Henderson. In the 20th minute, Granit Xhaka - who had his 200th Premier League appearance - passed back smoothly for Martinelli to finish with one touch to beat Henderson, but Lodi broke the ball right in front of the goal line.

Arsenal's half was not perfect when Saka was injured, had to make way for Reiss Nelson from 27 minutes. However, this was the explosive point to help "Gunners" sublimate in the second half. In the 49th minute, the ball passed through Xhaka and Jesus' feet in the penalty area before reaching Nelson's position. The 22-year-old winger faked the elimination of two visitors, but also needed two shots to put the ball in the net. In the 52nd minute, Jesus coordinated with Odegaard in a narrow range and then stretched for Nelson to cut the stone diagonally, completing the double.

It took Nelson two years and 107 days to score his second Premier League goal, but needed just three more minutes and a second for his third. Nelson's first goal in the Premier League was scored in a 2-1 win over Liverpool in July 2020.

But the 22-year-old has not stopped. In the 57th minute, Nelson released the second line for Thomas Partey to put his heart in the high corner, out of the reach of Henderson's block. The Ghanaian midfielder once made a similar masterpiece in the 3-1 win over Tottenham in the 9th round of the Premier League on October 1.

Arteta, then, withdrew Martinelli, Tomiyasu, Xhaka, William Saliba from the field but kept Jesus to help the Brazilian striker regain the feeling of scoring after six games. However, Jesus continued to be ungrateful when he missed two opportunities to face Henderson. Captain Martin Odegaard was the one to close the rain of goals at the Emirates Stadium, with a handling phase between four Nottingham Forest players in the penalty area and then hit the roof of the net, setting the score 5-0.

In the 15th round of the English Premier League, Arsenal will play a London derby at the rival Chelsea stadium on Sunday, October 6.
